Purchase of a special partner’s pension
How much pension capital will you have?
That depends on the pension capital your ex-partner has accrued in the form of guaranteed capital or investments.
- If your ex-partner has guaranteed capital, the capital earmarked for special partner’s pension is also guaranteed and the amount of pension capital that will be available for you to purchase a special partner’s pension is already known.
- If your ex-partner’s pension capital has been placed in investment funds, the amount of the pension capital depends on the prices of the investment funds and the costs. We can only determine how much pension capital will actually become available for you on the retirement date of your ex-partner.
Some months before your ex-partner’s retirement date, you will receive a letter from us about the amount of the pension capital and what you must do. If your ex-partner’s pension capital has been placed in investment funds, you will find a ‘provisional’ statement of your pension capital enclosed with this letter.
This can be done either with us or with another insurer. Whether your part of the retirement pension will be paid out by us or by another insurer is therefore not yet known. Nor is it yet known how much your part will be. As soon as we have more information on this, we will share it with you.
What action should you take?
Whether you purchase it from us or from another insurer is entirely up to you. So you would be well advised to request a quote from various insurers.
Important: If you decide to purchase your special partner’s pension from another insurer, please complete the Transferring accrued benefits form and send it to us. We will then transfer your part of the pension capital to the other insurer.
How much special partner’s pension you can purchase depends on the amount of the pension capital, market interest rates and purchase prices at the time in question.
If you would like to know how much special partner’s pension you can purchase from us, please ask us for a quote.
You will receive the quote about six weeks before the retirement date of your ex-partner. This is because the market interest rates and purchase prices can only be definitely determined six weeks before the retirement date.
Please note: We calculate our quote on the basis of the pension capital known to us at that time. If your ex-partner’s pension capital has been placed in investment funds, the actual pension capital on your ex-partner's retirement date may turn out to be higher or lower than assumed in our calculation. This means that the special partner’s pension you are ultimately able to purchase will also be higher or lower than stated in the quote. If you would like personal assistance in purchasing your special partner’s pension, you should contact a pension adviser. However, you should realize that pension advisers may charge a fee for a consultation.

- If you decide to purchase a special partner’s pension from us yourself, you should sign the quote and return it to us. We will then send you a confirmation.
When are you eligible for special partner’s pension?
You are eligible for special partner’s pension if your ex-partner dies after his or her retirement date. You will then receive a fixed monthly benefit for as long as you live.
